OH LOOK. IT'S AN UNPOPULAR OPINION.
Alright, so here's the deal. A character isn't automatically a sue because they come from the Uchiha/Hyuuga/Senju or any other related clan. He/she is a sue based on how the fanfiction writer or artist portrays them.

I see comments like that (with similar spelling, mind you) directed at any artist who dares make their OC an Uchiha. Here's the thing. In many cases, you're right. It's difficult to pull off an OC from any major clan that isn't a sue/stu. BUT. It can be done. What an artist needs is not for you to bash them for their sues, but to help them fix it instead.
What was your first OC like? If you're like any other normal human being, it was also a sue. This is why we work to better ourselves. Not all Uchiha OC's have american names, a sickening crush on Sasuke/Itachi, or have somehow acquired hair of a vibrant shade of purple. We all have to start somewhere.
You want to see something disgusting? This ([link]) is my first Naruto (Uchiha) OC. And this ([link]) is what she could turn into.
Spare yourselves, both are crap and neither are used as characters in my fiction nowadays. Furthermore, the monstrosity I created is far worse than some of the Uchiha OC's I see out there.
Go ahead, laugh. I can be honest enough with myself to know that the character I created when I was twelve is garbage. You may ask me what I've done as far as my OC is concerned in recent years. Well, she's still an Uchiha, and the story takes place before the massacre. She dies at the end, which of course, is logical. The story itself revolves around the conflict between the Uchiha and Senju clan, and has nothing to do with Sasu-geey or Itachi. This story isn't even posted here on dA yet (and may never be, because it used to be on Quizilla but now I can't access the god-forsaken site).
And I've seen others do even better things with their fiction. Not all OC's have to fangirl over the canon characters.
Now, I've been on dA for three years. I've learned my lesson, and I know what it's like to look back at my work and be disgusted with what I find. But guys, you need to understand that there's a person on the other side of that computer monitor, who may not understand the concept of a sue. I'll bet you didn't know when you first started out. I know I didn't, but a fellow fanfiction writer helped me out. New artists/writers need help too. Show them some kindness?
Long rant is long. The point I'm making here is this. Yes, there are (SO FUCKING AGONIZINGLY) many shitty sue Uchiha OC's out there. But please have faith and kindness enough to push struggling artists in the right direction and know that not all of them have to be crappy characters.
